Brief FAQs
Why should you wear briefs?
Briefs are perfect if you want to minimise the amount of fabric coverage on your legs and feel less restricted by your underwear, while maintaining a great level of support for your package. Briefs do not cover your legs, leaving them free to move without any material interference. The lack of material is also perfect for anyone who finds their legs getting a little too toasty in the warmer months. They are also good for when you are doing physical activity, providing support where needed but allowing for freedom of movement.
What is the difference between low-rise briefs and regular briefs?
Functionally, there is no difference between low-rise and regular briefs. They both provide great support and comfort, however, there is an aesthetic difference: Low-rise briefs are designed to sit lower on your body than regular briefs, meaning that they’re perfect for pairing with low-rise shorts and trousers. They’ll be sitting on your hip bones (making them ‘hipsters’) as opposed to your natural waist, which is where regular briefs sit. If you wear a pair of regular briefs with low-rise trousers, you’ll find a large amount of material poiking above the waistband of your trousers, so to eliminate this issue, pair your low-rise legwear with low-rise briefs to show off more of that sleek physique.
How should briefs fit?
Briefs should fit snugly and securely, offering you the support you need where it counts. There should be no pinching or tightness at the waistband or around the leg openings, and the crotch should feel secure and supportive, with no pinching or tightness. The material should sit close to your skin in an unrestrictive way across the body of the entire garment. They should also not be too loose as this could lead to chafing and a good deal of discomfort - make sure you do your research and get the size that’s right for you.
What size should I buy?
You should choose your brief sizes based on the size of your other most comfortable pants. If you’re usually a Medium, there’s no need to change things up when it comes to briefs. If you don’t know your size, then taking a look for our handy size guide found on each of our product pages at Pants&Socks.com will help you out, matching your waist size in inches to the correctly sized pants. To find your waist size in inches, you can check your most comfortable and best-fitting pair of trousers for a quick and easy solution. Or, if you want to measure yourself, simply grab a tape measure and/or piece of string and wrap it around your waist where your pants will sit.
