Birkenstock FAQs

It’s been long since socks were merely a bare necessity. They are the perfect accessory for your favourite shoe. Men’s socks from BIRKENSTOCK stand for uncompromisingly good comfort.

What are the different types of Birkenstock Socks?

Currently, we stock two types of Birkenstock socks (in a variety of pastel colours), with more soon on the way: The Cotton Twist — 96% cotton,2% polyamide, 2% Elastane. The Cotton Slub — 94% cotton, 4% polyamide, 2% Elastane. That extra polyamide in the Slubs may not seem like much, but it’ll add just a pinch of extra stretch and strength to the socks, while the extra cotton content of the Twists leaves them feeling pillow-soft on your feet.

Where are Birkenstock socks made?

Though Birkenstock socks are sold all over the world. Its headquarters and logistics division are based in Germany while its products are made in specialist factories around the world under a strict code of conduct.

How does Birkenstock underwear fit?

In short: very well — providing that you buy the correct size Birkenstock socks to fit your feet. To do that, you’ll want to check your shoe size and match them up with the corresponding size range of socks: if you wear size 10 shoes, you’ll want size 8–10 socks. Each type of Birkenstock socks also comes with a healthy dose of stretch, which means you may be able to get smaller sizes onto larger feet — however, we’d always recommend purchasing the correct size as this will ensure the longevity of your socks.

How long has Birkenstock been around?

Birkenstock socks are sold worldwide, but its HQ is in Germany. The name originated way back in 1774 with Johann Adam Birkenstock, listed as "subject and cobbler" in the church archives of Langen-Bergheim, Germany. Cobblers used to take care of your shoes and feet, so, naturally Johann passed his knowledge and skills down through the generations, with each dedicated to providing customers with quality footwear. Today, Birkenstock has perfected the fine art of crafting exceptional shoes and socks, hence that worldwide appeal.

How do you wash Birkenstock underwear?

Break out that fresh, anti-bacterial detergent, because you’ll want to be washing at 30 degrees Celsius — to be kinder to the environment, your wallet and your Birkenstock socks. The lower temperatures will protect the soft cotton material, helping them last even longer, while the detergent will send that bacteria packing. Naturally, if you want to make sure that all the bacteria is wiped out, stick them on a gentle cycle at 60 degrees Celsius instead. However, this is not very environmentally friendly and will raise your electricity bill. Our pro sock-washing tip: turn them inside out before you wash. This will really make sure all that bacteria and dead skin (nice) is washed away.
